What Is A Site-Map? What Does It Do? How Do I Make One?
What is a Site-Map?
What is it and what does it do to my website and how does it help in SEO? I dont know if i need one or not & if i do, i dont know how to make one. Can anybody help me and/or give me some info on Site-Maps? Thanks!

You submit a sitemap to both Google webmaster tool and Bing webmaster tool.
Sitemap tell search engine to discover number of pages and parameter available for SE to crawl.

Sitemap is a comprehensive list of pages (URL's) of a website. It enables deep and complete indexing of your webpages thus improving your visibility on SE�s. Broadly Sitemaps are classified as XML (improves visibility for spiders) and HTML (improves navigation for users).

Sitemap.xml is useful for search engine crawler. Google sitemaps is a tool made available from Google in 2005. It enables a webmaster to submit an index of web pages to Google using an XML data exchange standard through posting the sitemap on its server. Benefits include the ability to identify which pages have not been indexed and why. The tool also indicates pages that change regularly and reports on popularity of searches.

A site map is one page or sometimes a set of pages, which lists all, or most of the pages on a web site. It informs search engines that individual pages on your site are new or updated and are available for crawling.

Site maps are of two kinds. One is xml.sitemap and second is html.sitemap. xml.sitemap is been made for crawlers point of view, however html.sitemap is made for viewers point of view.

Sitemap shows the different URLS/ pages within your website and you can have one generated using the many tools on Google. Submitting a sitemap is a vital part of getting started with SEO .

sitemap is list of URL available on your site.if search engine crawls your sitemap then by default he crawls all pages available on your website
there are two types sitemap one is HTML Sitemap & second is XML Sitemap HTML Sitemap you can create manually but for XML Sitemap you have to search on google For XML Sitemap Generator, after that you have to go for google web master tool to add sitemap on website

Do i have to create a site map dor my website(forum)?
I am with hostgator & in the cpanel there is a SEO tool which submits site-maps to search engines & when i didnt it, it submitted my forums site-map with me creating one.

Basically, Sitemap is show to all details all pages of a website. Sitemap tells search engine to discover number of pages and parameter available for Search engine to crawl.
