You should have a mix of dofollow and nofollow links.

No follow is a link attribute that instructs search engine crawlers not to crawl the link. These links are hence not indexed in search engines. They are only helpful to generate traffic from various sources.

Nofollow link not good for ranking it is also increased traffic for website nofollow links not gives link juice for website it is not matter in nofollow backlink what is the DA of Article or blog website because nofollow links not gives link juice.

The nofollow tag is a way publishers can tell search engines not to count some of their links to other pages as “votes” in favour of that content.
Most social media sites use Nofollow and most comment sections use Nofollow because people end up spamming their link just for a back link.
You should have a mix of both like a user previously said.

No follow links can be termed as backlinks which has no value in ranking for your website. generating many no follow links may spam your site. Though some no follow links are really helpful too.

For SEO, No-follow links doesn't increase the page rank as its being crawled,including the HTML attribute rel=”nofollow” to a link it has an ability to stop the link to another page. But though Nofollow link is not value for website visibility, Google supports our work in Google database. And working in nofollow does not call as spammer.

A link which is not follow by google bot is called no follow link. Visitor can only viewing that link. you can improve traffic by that link.
