1. Social Networking Sites (such as wordpress, squidoo, livejournal, etc)
2. Web 2.0 Profiles 3. Articles 4. Social Bookmarking 5. Social Sites (facebook, twitter, google+, etc) If you are doing all 5 of those techniques with quality and uniqueness then you should be able to rank much easier.
