Google is focusing more and more on Local search results. If you can add your sites URL to Google Places it can very often skip organic results altogether and is fairly simple. Adding your business to local directories also allow a nice natural way of gaining backlinks to your site. However not all directories are good. The best are both Yahoo and the SEOmoz directory, but harder to get.

I would add your business listing to any and all directory sites as well. I can't get listed in yahoo or bing for some reason. No one usually uses those search engines anyways when looking for our site, based on google analytics.

Adding website on business listing website is good if you do in your country business listing website & related as well.
