Personally I prefer facebook but twitter is a great social networking and excellent tool...

I would rather say that both Facebook and Twitter is very good in their own way...Why not use both to gain extra benefits....?? If you have a blog or site, then you must create a Facebook page and Twitter handle with the name of your blog/site.....It will provide ample number of extra traffics to your blog......

But most of the people follow each other randomly and dont even bother to check all tweets. In my opinion, twitter is not that great option for promotional purpose.

If you add the Twitter follow option to your site, then your loyal readers will surely follow you on Twitter, and that will help you to promote your blog, products etc for sure....
