What type of clothes do I wear if I'm going to a New Year's party?
A New Year's party can be casual or dressy. Try to find out from the hostess what the dress code is. A New Year's Eve party is usually more dressy than a New Year's day party. If it is a dressy evening party wear cocktail attire or a floor length dress. If it is a daytime party or casual evening party wear pants or a skirt with a festive top.

I think you must dress up according to the party dress code and the theme of the party, and given the festive season around it won't be difficult for you to shop even.
