Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. In its simplest form, a Sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL (when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site) so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site.

Sitemap.xml.....is a xml file of your website that hold lot of information about our website....like meta data, key word of every url of your site.
You can get sitemap for your website through some Important tool..

If you're using Wordpress to run your site...I've found using the plugin Google XML Sitemaps pretty useful and easy to setup.

Sitemap xml is the file which is generated and placed on root folder of the site to get pages crawled by search engines. It is also added in google webmaster tools which tells you about your web pages statistics which are working or not working.

This is very important for website to getting know what is happening in overall site.
