I usually use market samurai to analyses competitors - SEO or any other, other than that, I usually look the top 20-30 results for my target keyword and analyses their backlinks, onpage settings and etc.

Analyse the back links of your competitor and then try to focus on that backlinks, and make a strategy to overcome the competitive site.
