SEO or search engine optimizations are modifications and activities in order to achieve top positions in search results. We search for products or solutions using web search engines. We type a keyword or search phrase into, for example, Google and for every imaginable combination of words we get a lot of results. One of the most important properties of Google web search engine is that it returns relevant pages. This means that the most important and relevant websites or web pages related to our search phrase are displayed on the first page of results. It is publicly known that about 42% of search engine users click on the firs result. When we are optimizing a web page for particular keyword we make sure that this keyword is present in the page title, in meta description, in meta keywords, we try to use header tags for titles and subtitles, we use relevant anchor texts for all internal links, etc. Which one you prefer most?

Both have their own importance.If you don't optimize your website ON page then your off page work will become more difficult.In same way if you don't build backlinks for your website then its very difficult to get rank high for targeted keywords.So don't compare these important SEO techniques with each other and optimize your website both ON page as well as Off page.

You have to do both. off page seo increases with increase in competition.

Google always use this formula while giving page rank to any website. So, its better to submit your links in high PR site to increase the page rank of your website.

Both are really important. I do on-page optimize my website first and then proceed with the off-page optimization.

If talking about the Google search engine then both off page and on the page are important but in term of percentage then Google gives 75% importance to the off page activities in the comparison of on page activities whose percentage is 25%. But for getting successful website both are important for the SEO.

On page refers to all activities that are done within the site whereas off page does not involve pages of the site. Off page optimization involves promotional activities to expose your site to the world.
