Exactly as you said...On-page optimisation (on-site SEO) is what can be done on the pages of a website to maximise its performance in the search engines. For eg

- Including well-researched keywords in appropriate density
- Including meta title, description tags, ALT tags, H1 tags
- Developing a strong internal linking strategy
- Placing anchor text properly
- Optimizing title by placing target keywords in the title
- Including a sitemap
- Including fresh, unique content
- Improving page loading speed
- Optimizing images and videos properly

Very right about on-page optimization, which is first step of search engine optimization. In this the very first step is keyword selection or keyword research. In which we select those keywords which are very much related to our website services and products...

As the time is passing, the competition is getting more and more tough to get the keywords on the first page of the Google.

On Page SEO include lots of thing include meta tags, Title Description, site map, Google analytic, alt tag with image optimization, anchor tag, keyword density, internal linking.

The on page SEO also includes proper categorization of the content available in the website. If you have proper categorization it helps the visitors and is considered good by the search engines.

I believe that fresh and genuine content is the best tactic of onpage optimization.. you need to insert seo-friendly and keyword enriched content to your website on daily or weekly basis..
