Forum spamming is when you are posting short terse statements or questions, sort a similar to what you did, to get your post count up, and get links. The norm for not doing that his to have at least a 50 word count and 25 posts, then you are considered not to be a forum spammer, some forums have more of a requirement like 100 posts, and some of them have made the nofollow for the reason of such behavior.

There are some forums which can afford Akismet who block spamers but is not free asa far as I know...
