Search engines are not alike when it comes to an algorithm and has to keep track of all methods of search engine ranking. Google optimization is a different case when compared to that of Yahoo. Yahoo Optimizations asks for updating content and including keywords in Meta tags as well title tags. One needs to work on on-page optimization as well.

Back links are very much helpful to get Page Rank and also helpful to achieve top ranking. All the search engines are not dependent on the back links but they are also looks into the content, design and traffic. As per my view back links mainly matters for the Google as compared other search engines link Bing and Yahoo, they works on different ranking algorithms. Back links are important but not the only important thing in SEO there are so many other things which also matters in getting top ranking.

Based on experience, Yahoo does not really deal well when it comes to SEO. I realized that Yahoo does not index websites easily and like other users, they do not find Yahoo helping websites a lot.
