Moving Hosting and the Mail - Site Owners Forums

Hi,

We have a business website that is currently hosted on Windows. There is one of those generic control panels and we are now moving to Linux hosting also with a generic control panel.

All the staff has email and large email boxes. How can we move the mail from the old Windows host to the new Linux host. Both setups have dedicated IP's and yes they are on SHARED HOSTING so the tricks to change the email would be limited.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had to move a customer's website to another web web host consideration. Actually, the website was relocated to the same web host company but it was a different consideration. So the techniques taken here could be used to move the website configurations to a different web host company as well as another consideration.

Since you are transferring your websites from windows to linux, it is hardly possible to migrate an emails with data files. The reason is, both the operating system use different mail server and each mail server has different directory structure.
You can download all the emails in any email client and then create same email addresses through control panel for the websites.
