The best way to assess what are the right keywords to use is by using the Google Adword Keyword Tool.
Start by brainstorming a selection of words you feel people would be likely to type to find your business.
Think about your industry and decide if your target market is a local one or national market.
If your business is an ecommerce shop or you offer your services across your country then a national phrase is best but if you are offering services to the local community i.e. Roofing London then a local phrase would be better.
Type your phrases into the keyword tool not forgetting to add London if its a local target market as demonstrated below. (use London in your search even if this isnt your area as it gives more accurate results).

My preferred Google instrument is the Google web master instrument which displays the all statistics about the web site. Like search inquiries, links of your web site, HTML proposal and XML site map submission and numerous other topographies.

Of course it works for me and it's a great tool to have some research on the keywords that we wish to target for a better ranking. Once we have ready with the website category/subject selection then we can use Google keyword tool for generating some keyword/phrases suggestions and recommendations based on our Interests or competitors website (we can use the competitor website URL's to gather some keyword suggestions by Google keyword tool, based on the competitor website content, keywords will be generated).

Google Keyword Tool is useful to determine the popularity of keywords, competition, and cost per click. I use this tool but get frustrated because i dont know how to choose best keywords from it. What to look after best volume or less competition. Do you have any method which is helpful in choosing best keywords from Google Keyword Tool?
