What is the need for indexing backlinks. Will that be helpful?

Backlink indexing is needed because if the backlink is not listed in search engine means search engine is unable find that link and we are not getting any contribution from that link in our websites ranking.

Backlinks can be indexed by:
- submitting a XML sitemap in webmaster tool - sharing your webpages in various social media websites
