Is it still working? I hear about the directory submission is not working for the SEO?

Yes in my opinion directory submission is a very valid SEO practice however there are ethical ways to do directory link building and the unethical/borderline black hat methods. Adding your client in sites like local and national directories related to the client's subject matter expertise is a recommended method for link building.

Directory submission is an off page technique to submit your website to various web directories to build backlinks. It doesn't help much because Google now considers these sites as spam sites with very less content.

The best thing would be to focus on those that are indexed by Google. Also, your preference should be in favor of offering paid directories in your niche. Since knowing his editorial many good paid directory choice links help ensure quality. (Remember that Google's advice for quality links compared to quantity).

I have discussed with many experts about directory submission. Many experts are doing directories on good-selected sites, but if they are not doing a lot of submissions on it, then I can suggest you also go with a few submissions who are good.
