The nofollow tag is a way publishers can tell search engines not to count some of their links to other pages as “votes” in favor of that content. Why would publishers need to block such votes? Doing so can help them avoid problems with search engines believing they are selling influence

No-follow link intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spam indexing from occurring. I think it's benefit for do follow links.

A no follow link is a link that does not count as a point in the page’s favor, does not boost PageRank, and doesn’t help a page’s placement in the SERPs. No follow links get no love. Theirs is a sad and lonely life.

Nofollow links are the links which help you only to gain the traffic but don't help you to increase your SEO.
You can think these links as closed pipe where link juice doesn't pass from source to destination. |
