It's very important. For the longest time, I didn't know how to use Facebook to drive traffic to my website. Now, I realize that the best way to do that is to create a Facebook page and a Facebook group and develop connections that way. I've had multiple Facebook pages, but only decided to create a Facebook group just recently.

It depends on what kind of business you are trying to promote. Facebook ads are working great for most of the businesses, but not for all. And the benefit of it also depends on how good your campaigns are.
Marketing is all about A\B testing, so don't hesitate and try Facebook for promotion and you will see the results. After this, you can figure out if it fits your company's approach or not.

There are no criteria to measure Facebook business influence. If we talk about the amount of active user of FB, the expectation is high.
