It almost depends upon the competition of website. But If keyword competition is low and search volume is also low then that keywords rank easily on first or first position within 1 month. for Medium competition it's takes time approximately 3 to 6 months. For very high competition keywords it depends upon 100% effort of SEO Expert or other paid advertisements.

2. Or your competitor have better content or links from you

otherwise if you keep your efforts continue you will be on top.

Its not unsurprising you can't say that your page rank will be enhanced it can be vacillated so that if your page rank is 23 then after some days your page rank will be 20 it relies on upon the catchphrases positions.

Search Engine Optimization is such a vast field that I don't think you can use too much. There's certainly a limit of time you can use to improve your on page SEO as it takes time to see if a certain modification results in the expected effect. But there's no such limit in off-site SEO, you can spend countless hours writing, submitting articles, commenting in forums or blogs. You will also need a lot of time to analyze your results and keep your knowledge updated to the last trends and Google requirements.

There is no fixed time for SEO rankings on 1st page because its only depends on the competition of targeted keywords as well as their search volume.

If you are targeting high competitive keywords with high search volume then it will take much time to rank on 1st page (may be more than 6 months).

But if you are targeting low competitive keywords with low search volume then it may be rank on 1st page within a short time (within 3 months).

It depends on your work for both on page and off page SEO and the most important is the on page SEO because it is the beginning of any article and you have to serious about it and also a perfect keyword play a very important role to get the rank from search engine like Google.
