The main difference between SEO and SMO lies in the name itself. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and SMO stands for Social Media Optimization. SEO is the process of increasing the ranking of website in search engine and SMO is the process of improving the ranking in facebook, twitter, instagram, etc.

SMO and SEO both are different terms no doubt both have same destination and both are under the same category that is Internet Marketing. SMO Stands for Social Media Marketing, and SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization.
Social Media Optimization Include Blogging, Video Sharing, Image Sharing, Social Networking.
Search Engine Optimization On Page SEO and Off Page SEO.

The difference between SEO and SEM is simply that Search Engine Optimization is part of Search engine marketing or Search marketing as it is widely known. Both processes aim in increasing visibility in search engines. SEO is about optimizing the web property to get better rankings in the search results while SEM goes beyond SEO. It involves other methods as well which can get you more search engine visitors like PPC advertising.
