Backlinks - Quality vs Quantity - Site Owners Forums

I have seen mixed opinions on this, just wondering if google values high authority links over hundreds if link?

Should I try to backlink to as many sites as possible or should I work on stacking up social networking accounts like twitter, facebook and pintrest and create backlinks from those?

What do you guys think?

you have to concentrate on all ways of seo, like blog commenting,articles submission,rss submission.. etc including social bookmarking sites.

For ranking your website higher, you need to work on all the aspects of SEO & not just back links or social networking.

Quality backlinks means high PR backlinks and related with your web-site. Quantity back-links means low PR but lots of back-links. Quality back-links is important for the site.

Quality is more important than Quantity. You’re not going to rank for a highly competitive term with only a handful of backlinks. High quality backlinks can do the job where thousands of cheap links can't. Google actually penalizes sites if it thinks they’re getting backlinks in an unnatural way, like too fast or too many.

1 quality link contribute more in Google ranking than a hundreds of cheap links. So, i is good to have quality backlinks than the quantity backlinks.
