Building great content is more important than Building backlinks. Build great content and other will build backlinks for you by giving reference of your content if they share it or discuss about it.

Building great content and backlinks are equally important...but google gives more importance to relevant contents that are unique..contents can be published through press release, article sites, social bookmarkings...
