What are the techniques I need to use to have a good listing in the SERPs? What do I need to focus on other than Meta tags and anchor text when trying to gain good ranking in search engines from precise keywords? The race of keywords begun increasingly complex as everyone is focusing on niche keywords and less competitive keywords these days. I know in particular the basic techniques. Which are the best possible techniques to be used for acquiring good SERP for the major targeted keywords? Can anybody recommend some ideas for me? Anyone out there who has any idea what needs to be done?

Apart from the basic SEO techniques to positively affect your page ranking, you may want to also try applying SERP techniques such as getting country specific TLD, website hosting to be the country to are primarily targeting, separate keywords in your URl with hyphens and build quality links.

Make each page unique
Remove excessive from your root. This is not only causes the slow page loading, it also increases the possibility of coding errors that, while they may have no direct impact on the site�s SEO, may still cause difficulty for the search engine spiders.
