I agree with Deepanshu on his answer. Also the link he has provided is rather complete in its content.
If you need a simpler explanation ... Google prefers up to a 100 links on a single page. Normally when a user types into a search box, the results may go over 100. So we need to paginate(divide into multiple pages) the answer list.
