Ranking doesn't depend till now on Responsive website but soon it happens ! As per google next update about search engine to the high priority will be given to mobile friendly environments...
Responsiveness mainly important for user convenience who used to browse website on other than desktop devices like mobiles, tablets... etc. Mostly if your website is responsive the bounce rate will be less so that it helps user to spend on your site results less bounce rate so in this case google used to rank your site well.
