Though google suggest that you should place more ad units to increase revenue. But as per ethics i personally feel that one must focus more on engagement and less on number of ad units. If your website has quality then the more ad units may degrade it. If it don't have the quality then placing more ads would be just like spamming. So i better think placing more ads is not a solution at all. Though 2-3 ad units on a page may be admissible .
