For checking website traffic Google analytics is the best tool for you. Other than that you can use alexa.com as well which will show your traffic status consistently. But, using Google analytics you can get the exact analysis of your website completely. For that you need a gmail account with which you can sign up on Google analytics and can easily access the tool for your complete website analysis or can be said as traffic analysis.

You can try Gostats. It is easy to understand as compared to GA. Also you can see stats in a real time. It manages your website traffic in an efficient way & measure your website performance by which you can easily understand what are the strength & weakness of your website.

I think webmaster tool is best to check traffic and it is easy to operate.

Stick to google analytics, webmaster tools from google and microsoft don't give the whole story about how your site is used.
