If you do it in a black hat manner, you'll end up paying the price sooner or later, but if you do it white hat manner, you'll reap the benefit even if it takes time. Getting on the first page of Google can be quite challenging, but if you're willing to work on it, you can make it there. First, you start off with off-page optimization and then start building back-links to the pages that you would to rank.
