Its all up to your submission or link building techniques. For Example: If you are doing directory submission then you need to be careful about the website status where you post your website information because most of the directory website is going to be link farm website and if your website is posted in that kind of website then your website ranking will be start to decreasing. Just remember one thing, when you try to submit your website information in other site then don't forget to check its website status like its PR, website link placeing, check inbound and outbound link ratio etc.
