Black hat seo can be easier than white hat but it will not work for long time, your ranking will be on first till the robots could not trace it after that will be on 10th or may be more page so better to keep patience and work on only white hat.

If you following white hat SEO technique like others do you are not doing to stand out and you may not achieve desire results. For getting desired results you have to mix both techniques.

Also take a look at Grey Hat SEO. White Hat SEO is the best to practice and for creating long term goals. Black Hat is short term and can have some serious penalties. I do understand the Travel Site argument, Black Hat would be a quick way to get those 2-3 day deals, but you have to be sure it's not spammy, otherwise your Google Pagerank will wither away. Concentrating time and development with White Hat can give you impressive results and Google will favor that.
