Try social bookmarking. Its a great source of traffic for new sites.

I would say that the most valuable link would be from a high pr authorative site that is relevant to your own in terms of content.

Backlinks from niche sites are the best one. Also, sharing it on the social networking and bookmarking sites is very helpful.

Update your site with fresh and quality backlinks
Do some SMM and PPC for traffic.

but I still wonder how it ranks so high with no back links ... of that doesn't even make it into the first 5 pages of the search results

Try Backlinks with .edu domains; it is one of the best way to get quality backlinks, but it is not easy to fulfil.

its really hit and miss in my experience, but its always a good idea to try and get links that few other people are getting. so not just forum backlinks, or from article sites, but from sites in a similar niche to yours. maybe you can get in touch with the owner.

of course, if they are junk sites then that may not be possible.

Quality backlinks are better for rank well in Google........ Quality baclinks mean links form relevant high pr low obl sites.....

i think you should use auto approve+ dofollow links which gather links as fast as we want and moreover you need to place those links which relevant with your keywords
