I would suggest you, don't try to do it now. If you would like to survive in today's modern SEO because Google starts penalizing those who have been doing link exchange.

link exchange is the good one. That will give more reputation but do that within a limit. Because Google hate such over optimization.

Link Exchange are bad these days because most of the link exchange sites have become spam.
