There are many alternative ways to become backlinks to your blog. Article submission is the most efficient I've used for 2 years.

Back links are very much helpful to get Page Rank and also helpful to achieve top ranking. All the search engines are not dependent on the back links but they are also looks into the content, design and traffic. As per my view back links mainly matters for the Google as compared other search engines link Bing and Yahoo, they works on different ranking algorithms. Back links are important but not the only important thing in SEO there are so many other things which also matters in getting top ranking.

Based on experience, Yahoo does not really deal well when it comes to SEO. I realized that Yahoo does not index websites easily and like other users, they do not find Yahoo helping websites a lot.

Yahoo is focused on the content of the site. So, for Yahoo optimization, you have to be very much aware of the site content. It should be good and original. Otherwise, Yahoo optimization will be a tough ask!

Come on guys, the PR or page rank that you are talking about is applicable only to Google ant not yahoo. There are some issues here.
