PHP stands for HyperText preprocessor and is awidely used open source general purpose Server scripting language that is specially used for creating dynamic web pages and can be easily mixed with HTML. PHP was first created as a simple scripting platform called "Personal home page" but now va day php is used as an alternative of Microsoft active server page(asp)
