Both platforms have their pros and cons. For example, they both are accessible through desktops or mobiles, although Instagram is more geared towards mobile users. You can't even post images with your desktop unless you use applications such as Gramblr.

If your products need a more visual kind of advertising, then Instagram is the way to go. For something more versatile, start a Facebook page.

One thing the Instagram has an advantage over Facebook is that it's actually much easier to be seen by strangers. One the other hand, the population of Facebook users is definitely hard to ignore.

But one of the best things you can do is include Instagram posting in your Facebook marketing strategy. After all, FB does own Instagram, and you can do cross posting on the two sites.
