link building is important if you want to increase your site's pr becauze pr totally depends on backlinks.

To increase you PR backlinking is less then 10% but it is one of the thing that is important. After Googles Panda update a lot changed. the time people are on the website and the sociale sharing is one of the most important things. But to get people to your website you have to get high in the search results first so backlinking is important.
