You can use the abbreciation of your software company name and combine with color. This is the first and the last way, many software company logoes are available you can refer to more.

Well your thoughts good and good ideas for design a logo for this company but i think the best way is you should contact with a web or graphic designer because they are professionally trained and provide your a good Logo or advice what you want from them !!

For creating a business logo, you need to understand the business theme and colors you will choose for creating logo. Second thing a logo creator must have knowledge about the logo design tools viz. illustrator, coreldraw, indesign etc. Still unable to create a logo for your business, better to assign this task to the experienced and professional logo designers. So many crowdsourcing websites providing such services in affordable cost.

I would recommend using photoshop or illustrator. The font, image, size, and spacing should be relevant to the company's mission. It's a true art. Might want to hire a professional.
