Please let me know what is robot.txt meant for?

Make a regular text file called robots.txt, and make sure it’s named exactly that. Its must be uploaded to the root directory of your website.

Robots.txt is a text (not html) file you set on your site to inform search robots which pages you would like them not to check out.

robots.tx is use for block your site from Google.if you will add this file in your website than google boat will not cache your site

The robots.txt is a file that follow the search engine instruction.
