Hi, i have done so many web directory submission for my site. I just want to know that, is this work is helpful for SEO?

It depends if its related to your website or you submit to your local directories.

No, never go for quantity, in SEO only quality matters, if you think that posting your link in different directories will help you to rank your keyword, then you are wrong on the other hand Google may penalised for excessive directory submission. so limit your directory submission to few and to only on relevant category in the directory.

Low PR web directory is harmful for your website. If you do high PR niche directory submission, it is good for SEO.

As my point of view, Your website related to travel service, do only high PR niche travel directory submission. Web Directory Submission is most of not useful for getting quality backlinks to your website.

Yes, this is the best way to index the website on small search engines. all the small directory have contain the link submission feature this is the best for increasing the website popularity on small directory search.
