See, if you plan to rank with the keyword "sweetest red velvet cake", you should set up a page, that is perfectly optimized for this keyword. This will be your landing page. Whenever you build links for this keyword, don't forget to point them to your landing page as you want this page to climb the Google ladder.
Of course you will have other content on your site, that you can easily use to push your landing page via internal linking. Like other recipe pages, categories like "cake" or "desserts". However, be careful that you don't optimize them for the same keywords, as you would build up your own competition this way.
