Like mentioned in the other comments, it is important to remember that quality is more important than quantity.
It is also important to know that building too many links at once comes across as unnatural, so there has to be some sort of consistency as well as variation to the pages you are linking to. Your links shouldn't only be pointing to your homepage, you should vary it to help build up the authority of your other core pages.
