You can follow these steps to use Webmaster tools:
1) Submit / check sitemap for your website
2) Adjust crawling rate of Google bots for website to view statistics
3) Generate & check robots txt file for your website
4) List all internal & external pages that link to website
5) Do keyword research & check which keywords led the site being displayed on
Google search engine result page.
6) Check the statistics about how Google has indexed your website & find out if there
are issues while doing so.
7) Set preferred domain name that determines how URL will be displayed in search
engine page.
