Rogen’s in extremely acquainted area here, investing almost the whole of the film absolutely off his nut. Accompanied by his 50/50 co-star John Gordon-Levitt and The Avengers’ Anthony Mackie, The Evening Before is like a prequel to The Hangover; an account of three buddies beginning upon the last run of their decade-long Xmas Eve having a party custom. Large consuming, karaoke, China food and a search for the notorious yet imaginary ‘Nutcracker Ball’ make up the sections of this unique, crass film by movie director Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies), and while there’s very little new content here, those ‘under the influence’ basics are handled with an confident contact.
