When the signals are converted to digits and then to bits and transferred over the channel the system is called digital communication.Unlike analog communication where waves are sent as they are. Digital communication employs coding by some technique so it is more resistant to noise, even if noise gets mixed up by the signal it can be filtered at the receiver end, because we know how we codded it at transmitter end.
