Alexa ranking can't be improved by increasing the number of website traffic. The Alexa rank is calculated on the basis of the visitor, who has Alexa toolbar installed in their browser and visits your website.
Alexa ranking doesn't provide you the exact ranking, as if the visitor visited your website but doesn't have the Alexa toolbar, than that visit will not be considered while calculating the Alexa toolbar.
