I always use Alexa, it i s agood thermometer. However, if your page has low Alexa ratings and has good backlinks and better content (especially in local searches) you will pass the guys in Google with higher Alexa ratings.

Remember, for Alexa to work for you site and for other sites, you have to have the Alexa browser extension. If someone visits your site without the extension, Alexa can't read it or count it. So make sure you have the extension. i like it because i can see the Alexa ratings in the snippets of Google searches.
