I like Facebook and Twitter!!
Twitter allows you to make limited size posts, tag others, and share things from other sites.
Facebook allows all of these, without the limits, while also allowing for additional features such as IMing and video messaging, social games,and a wide variety of pages and groups; some serious ones, and others that will post humorous images, videos, or phrases.
Twitter has similar things, but in the end pales in comparison. Facebook also allows for better networking for finding and staying in touch with old friends.
