don't believe that the search engines' have any real preference for ranking between the different domain extensions, except that .org and .info sites are great for backlinking! The .com and .co simply represent the word "commercial" while .net represents "network".

What is more important is the rest of your domain name - the search engines do look at that and a good, relevant domain name will help search rankings. i.e. internetmarketing.com will generally carry more weight than myworld.com if the keyword search was "internet marketing" as it is seen as being more relevant.
