Allowing Search Engines to View Protected Sections

Hi,

I am wondering if it is possible to allow search engines to view cookie protected sections of a website?

I know I could probably detect if the accessor of a page is one of the major spiders and just don't require the cookie in that scenario, but then I worry that this will be viewed as "cloaking" which is bad of course.

Basically I have a "safe mode" in one of my sites that shows only non-adult content (about 50% of my pages), then a non-safe mode section which requires a cookie that shows both adult and non-adult pages.

I'd like the search engines to be able to view both, but currently they need the cookie to do that.

Is there a way around this problem that won't be viewed as "bad" by the major search engines (google/live/yahoo)?
