For getting higher traffic towards your site, submit your site only on good and high PR sites. And always use quality content for your site, do not copy it from another site.

When you say "submit your site" what specifically are you referring to? There are a number of different tasks that could fall under this.

Submit your site to directories such as Dmoz, submit articles to article directories, participate in forums, blog posting and high quality backlinks will all increase your traffic over time.

You can do a lot of seo activities like social bookmarking, web directory submission, blog submission and blog commenting, Article submission, press release submission, images submission, pdf submission etc. But make sure these are on high pr sites and with high quality content.

SMO is also help to build a high traffic. You may use PPC too for get a large number of traffic.
